Watched this video three times. The movement of the front tyre is mesmerising. I would love one of these for my commute, not sure how much practice it would take to be able to fold it down in such a smooth motion though. Very much looking to when this moves out of concept and into production. I’ll invest!

So Revision 3 launched a new show a few weeks ago called Film Riot. The basic premise of the show being that it will demonstrate film special effects in a senario and then break it down and show you how to do it. The actual meat and veg of what you have to do in Final Cut is sped through so it doesn’t get boring and focused more on teaching you about how film makers, particularly the low budget indie ones, think about creating effects.

They blow people’s heads off, they show you how to add muzzle flash when someone fires a gun but the thing which really sets this podcast apart is that their production values are increadibly high. The writing is genuinely funny and the senarios that they run to showcase their effects are awesome. Check out their podcast and even if you are not a film maker you will find yourself looking at your favourite films in a very different light.

The lastest episode was a mock film trailer to showcase the effects taught in the first few episodes. Mashing together just about every epic horror film trailer you have ever watched these guys take the piss wonderfully with their trailer for PMS The Horror Movie. Not only is the trailer mental they have also set up a Myspace page for it! Check out the rest of the mock universe these guys have set up at http://myspace.com/pmsthehorrormovie

An increadibly funny video of a man picking up his home phone to a telemarketer and pretending he is a police detective investigating a murder at the address he has called. Makes me wonder if the telemarketer was ever brave enough to pick up the phone again. Having participated in this line of work, he either left and was never seen in the office again, his extension being reassigned and his desk filled with more cannon fodder within two days or they all had a good laugh about it in the office and the call, which although outbound will have been recorded by the marketer, is making people laugh to this day.

So I had fun the night that I went to LIPA’s graduation ball this year, mainly because trying to tie a my bow tie took about 45 minutes of both Connie and I struggling to get the damn thing tied. We watched about 3 videos on YouTube for guidance but found little helped, the advice on the box certainly didn’t anyway. This tie knot is certainly a bit different, the guy making the video gets straight to the point and more importantly, the angle that he’s filming from makes following the movements really easy! Straight on just doesn’t work for neck tie instructional videos, and believe me I speak from experience!

Leo Laport gets rather annoyed when Mike Arrington implies that he couldn’t be impartial if he had a free review unit. I am a fan of the TWiT network more than any of the output Tech Crunch has managed to cook up recently. I thought Arrington would be trying to make friends ahead of his “iphone killing” tablet launch but with this and the Last.fm saga that might not be the case. Just found some video footage of the best sport in the world, Slamball. Its like basketball but full contact and the court has trampolines in it. We tried to play a game a bit like this when I was a kid with gym mats and very much full contact. As someone who wasn’t even allowed on a trampoline at school because the city council thought we would kill ourselves I think this sets the record straight!
